About Ellen Paul

Ellen Paul is almost a native Washingtonian, having moved to the area at age 5 when her parents left the State Department. They settled into Silver Spring where Ellen learned English and attended public schools.

After graduating from the University of Maryland with an M.A. in English, she worked for two non-profit organizations, United Services Organization and the Salvation Army, honing her communications skills and expanding her marketing knowledge base.

Along the way she served as President of the Religious Public Relations Council (RPRC), on the boards of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She also picked up top awards for marketing and public relations campaigns form RPRC and PRSA and for design from the International Association of Business Communicators.

Ellen has written hundreds of articles for various publications and has ghost written two books. She currently writes a monthly column, Postal Notes, for AdVents, the magazine of the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW).

Owning her own business started on a lark as a freelance writing assignment. Soon the freelancing became fulltime and Ellen quit the non-profits for the wonderful world of self-employment. She founded Paul&Partners in 2002.

Starting with a concept, Paul&Partners can develop and manage a direct mail or marketing campaign, from selecting lists, creating copy and design, printing, imaging and mailing. Most recently, Paul&Partners has expanded to include cross-media PURLs and web-based data capture, as well as variable data printing, print-to-web and web-to-print applications.

Today Paul&Partners has a client list that includes prestigious universities, non-profits, creative agencies, Fortune 500 companies, real estate firms and financial institutions.
