DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

Design Specifications

If you have any questions about submitting your art work, please call us. We can help!! 703-996-0800

RESOLUTION
Resolution also known as DPI (Dots Per Inch) or PPI (Pixels Per Inch) is the quantity of dots that fit horizontally & vertically within one-inch. Higher dots per inch makes a higher quality image.

We prefer that all art submitted to P & P is at least 300 DPI. This assures that you will not incur extra fees to resample, redesign or correct your submission. An image with a low DPI can not be increased in an imaging program. The result wil be a blurry or otherwise non-usable image.

COLOR MODES
All artwork must be in CMYK to be considered "ready to print". Converting RGB or Pantone colors during the "preflight" stage can result in colors looking different that they should. Upon request, we will provide you with a hard copy proof of your artwork so you can see exactly how the colors will translate onto the paper you have selected.

BLEEDS
A bleed is a printing term that is used when the printing on a piece goes all the way to the edge. If your artwork has bleeds, it will need to be printed on an oversized sheet of paper and then cut down to the proper size.

All art that extends to one of the boarders will require a bleed. We request a quarter inch (0.125") on all sides to assure that when the postcard is cut, your artwork and text will not be touched. A 4 x 6 postcard with an image that extends to the boarder would be required to be 4.25 x 6.25 to assure that the cutting process does not effect the artwork.

Please call us to discuss the details of your print job! We can help!!

Will you send me samples of my job? Yes. P&P asks that you advise us, in advance of the job, if you want (or do not want) samples. Unless you specify otherwise, we will send you "live" samples—or samples that have been run twice—once for the mail and once for you.

Can you help with design of our mail piece? Yes, we have a graphic department in house that can design your piece or make changes to existing art.

How do I get my files to you? We have a secure online file transfer (ftp). All files need to be compressed via a ZIP program like WINZIP. When using FTP, a private account and password will be set up. Please contact us when you are ready to send us files to assure you get the correct FTP password information. You can always send your files via CD or DVD. Be sure to include contact information and quote number. Send to:
